7 / 5 / 2009 One reason that many artists’ first albums are often rated as their best is because they exhibit an undeniable hunger… They will chew through bone to the marrow to satisfy their growling pits. With nourishment comes a feeling of being content. How can you effectively prepare for the next dish when you’re lethargic from the first? The answer: you have to stay hungry! When we finished “No Greater Love”, we felt that we had gotten our word in, and we were good. We had a lot of songs that we thought were great but didn’t make the album, so we had planned to use them for a later project. We had snacks, and wouldn’t have to eat too much to feel satisfied again… That’s not the UPPANOTCH way! We want the best from and for ourselves. We had to make sure the meal was healthy, and that we were ready to eat again. We thoroughly listened to the music we had- feeling that it was good, but not UPPANOTCH from the previous music. We stress growth in everything. IF OUR MUSIC HADN’T GROWN FROM OUR FIRST ALBUM, IF THERE WAS NO EVOLUTION, THEN WE HAD TO WORK UNTIL THERE WAS. That’s what UPPANOTCH is about! ON A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN, WE’RE AN ELEVEN!!! We began listening to music- paying attention to the intricacies of sound, rhythm, and QUALITY. We recorded songs that reflected what we have learned, and are creating even as you read along… We find ourselves famished. It’s time to eat again! Get ready to join us at the table!
